Defeating 8 opponents, Arsenal moved closer to the outstanding English midfielder

Leicester City’s most sought-after young talent could soon arrive at Emirates, with Arsenal reportedly having beaten eight rivals to secure a decisive victory.

Arsenal continues to demonstrate its ambition to build for the long-term future after its most successful season in years. The 2025/26 Premier League champions and 2026 Champions League runners-up are not only targeting established stars but are also particularly focused on recruiting top young talents in England.

After ending a 22-year domestic title drought, Mikel Arteta’s team is planning to strengthen its squad depth. In this context, a promising target has caught the attention of the Emirates Stadium. According to numerous sources in England, Arsenal are in a strong position to sign Jeremy Monga, considered one of the most promising young talents in England today.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Arsenal have begun negotiations to sign Monga from Leicester City. Notably, sources from the club indicate that eight other clubs have submitted inquiries for the 16-year-old. Manchester United, Manchester City, and several other top European teams are reportedly monitoring the young English talent throughout 2026. However, the Gunners are now believed to have pulled ahead of the fierce competition from the other eight clubs in the transfer market and are closest to securing Monga’s signature.

Despite being only 16 years old, Monga quickly made a name for himself by becoming the second youngest player ever to appear in the Premier League at the time of his debut. Currently, he ranks third on the list of the youngest players in the league’s history, behind Arsenal’s young talents Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman. Last season, the winger was directly involved in 3 goals in over 1,000 minutes of playing time for Leicester City.

Monga’s greatest strength is his ability to create game-changing moments. This young player stands out thanks to his direct style of play, speed, and highly-rated dribbling skills. He also regularly plays alongside Max Dowman in England’s youth teams. These qualities lead Arsenal to believe that Monga can become an important part of the club’s long-term development plan.

This deal is predicted to be worth over £10 million and may even require arbitration to determine the official fee if Monga leaves Leicester. If completed, it would likely be the most expensive transfer in history for a player from the English League Two. Previously, former Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy praised the young player for his “moments of quality at a very young age”. With Arsenal ahead of eight rivals, the Emirates Stadium side have the opportunity to add another gem to their future and complete a trio of the youngest players ever to debut in the Premier League.
