No One Could Handle the Millionaire’s Daughter — Until a Janitor Did the Impossible… and He Froze

People always imagine that the loudest moments in life are the ones that change everything. A slammed door, a shouted argument, or a final goodbye you can never take back. But sometimes it is the quiet scenes, the ones no one expects, that hit the hardest.

That is exactly what happened on the afternoon everything shifted for Trevor Reading and his eight-year-old daughter, Hazel. Hazel was not the kind of kid you would ever easily forget. It was not because she was loud, but because she used to light up any room she stepped into.

She used to be that way before things fell apart completely. It was before the devastating accident on that slick, rainy stretch of Interstate 75 outside Knoxville. It was before she started gripping that tiny silver pendant like it was the absolute last piece of her mother she had left.

Trevor did what he could, or at least what he thought he could. He bought the newest gadgets, signed her up for weekend workshops, and scheduled therapy sessions. He filled the house with tutors, babysitters, specialists, and anyone who might understand what he simply did not.

But Hazel did not want specialists or doctors poking into her mind. She did not want new toys, expensive trips, or carefully planned weekend activities. She wanted her mother back, and Trevor did not know how to give her that.

So Hazel changed, not overnight, but in small, heartbreaking ways that crept into their daily life. She went from raising her hand eagerly in class to sitting completely alone at recess. She went from telling long, imaginative stories after school to staying entirely silent in the car rides home.

She transitioned from laughing at everything to crying at almost nothing at all. Her teachers at Lincoln Ridge Elementary in Columbus, Ohio, tried their absolute best to help. But every single day there seemed to be a brand new issue for them to handle.

There was always a meltdown, a sudden withdrawal, or an apologetic phone call sent home. Trevor heard the exact same sentence again and again from concerned educators.

“She is hurting, Mr. Reading, and she is not letting anyone in.”

Honestly, he was not surprised by this assessment at all. He was barely letting anyone into his own emotional world either. He tried his hardest to stay strong and pretend that he was perfectly fine.

He tried to bury himself in his demanding work so deeply that he could not feel anything anymore. Running his successful real estate firm kept him incredibly busy, sure. But staying busy did not equate to getting better or healing his fractured heart.

If anything, the constant distraction only made things significantly worse. Because while he signed lucrative contracts and negotiated complex deals, Hazel spent her days trying to survive alone. She was carrying a heavy grief far bigger than her little shoulders were ever meant to carry.

Teachers watched her drift further away like a boat untethered from its dock. Dedicated counselors watched her break down during simple reading assignments. But absolutely none of them ever guessed who would be the one to finally reach her.

It definitely did not happen in the carefully planned way everyone expected. Because that incredible turning point did not occur in a classroom or a sterile therapy session. It did not even happen on some meticulously planned father-daughter day out at the park.

It happened in the absolute most ordinary place in the entire school building. It occurred in the cafeteria, at the most ordinary time, long after everyone else had gone home. And the person who changed everything was not a highly paid behavioral specialist.

She was simply the quiet, unassuming school janitor. Nora Briggs was a woman most people passed in the hallways without a second thought. She was about to walk into the quiet cafeteria with nothing but a mop bucket and a worn-out broom.

She possessed a deep patience that had carried her through more personal storms than she ever talked about. She had absolutely no idea that little Hazel was sitting in there. Trevor also had no idea that anyone was successfully reaching his daughter at all.

The rest of the world had no idea how dangerously close Hazel was to disappearing inside herself completely. But that quiet afternoon, something beautifully unexpected was waiting in that empty cafeteria. It was something small, gentle, and powerful enough to crack open a grief that had been locked tight for two long years.

Before anyone truly understood what was happening, a single magical moment unfolded. It was a moment quiet enough to miss entirely if you were not paying attention. It began to gently pull Hazel back from the dangerous edge of her own sorrow.

If you asked anyone at Lincoln Ridge Elementary, they would tell you the place looked incredibly normal. There were wide hallways and brightly painted murals done lovingly by the school art club. There was a large cafeteria that always smelled faintly like warm chicken nuggets and harsh industrial soap.

But behind that comfortable everyday routine, people had started whispering about little Hazel Reading. They were not cruel whispers, but more like the kind adults share when they are completely out of answers. They noticed that the girl who used to smile constantly now barely spoke a single word.

“She had another breakdown during math class today.”

“Something is terribly wrong, but she absolutely will not say what it is.”

Hazel was never purposefully trying to be a difficult child. She was merely trying to survive something she did not possess the vocabulary for. Kids always notice everything, even when the adults around them foolishly think they do not.

A few of her classmates had started actively avoiding her. They did this because they simply did not understand why she cried at completely random moments. Others stared at the silver pendant she clutched constantly, feeling curious but too nervous to ask about it.

The brave ones who actually tried to help often ended up feeling terribly helpless themselves. During recess, she would purposefully sit by the chain-link fence all alone. She would drag a small stick through the dirt, drawing circles over and over again.

It was as if she was trying to desperately erase something only she could see. Teachers glanced over at her with deep worry, but they always had twenty other kids to actively supervise. They silently hoped she would miraculously snap out of it someday soon.

They sincerely hoped that time would eventually fix her broken spirit. But time alone was clearly not enough to heal this particular wound. Inside the school walls, the dedicated staff held meeting after serious meeting about her case.

They went through endless paperwork and suggested countless specialized therapy sessions. They rearranged her daily schedules and tried every soft-voiced pedagogical approach they could possibly think of. Still, despite all their professional efforts, Hazel kept slipping further away.

Sometimes she would shut down completely, refusing to even blink or acknowledge her surroundings. Other times, she would burst into heavy tears if someone accidentally brushed her arm while standing in the lunch line. She had tragically become a violent storm trapped inside a very small body.

No one could figure out how to calm the turbulent winds inside her. No one, except for one specific person whom nobody expected to matter. Her name was Nora Briggs.

Most people in the building barely even noticed Nora as she worked. She moved around the busy school the way a background song moves seamlessly through a grocery store. She was always present, yet rarely ever acknowledged by the people passing by.

She swept the floors, wiped the tables, emptied the heavy trash, and listened quietly. She observed everything carefully while oblivious teachers and students rushed past her every single day. But Nora had a very unique and special way of seeing things.

It was not in a dramatic, magical, or deeply mysterious way. It was more like someone who had lived long enough to easily recognize pain, even when it stayed completely silent. She naturally noticed the little things that everyone else was too busy to see.

She noticed how Hazel’s eyes quickly darted to the floor whenever someone spoke too loudly near her. She saw how the little girl’s small hands tightened around her pendant anytime a loud door suddenly opened. She observed how Hazel always sat next to the exact same table at lunch every single day.

It was always the table closest to the solid brick wall. It was the one specific spot in the massive room that made the frightened girl feel protected. What no one at the elementary school knew was that Nora deeply understood grief more than most people there.

She carried her own tragic story and her own long years of learning how to cope. She knew exactly how to breathe around an aching absence that simply refused to go away. But she was a private woman, and she never said a single word to anyone about her past.

That fateful afternoon would end up changing absolutely everything. Nora was not actively looking for Hazel, nor was she trying to solve a psychological mystery. She was just doing her normal routine, sweeping up stray crumbs and pushing her heavy utility cart.

She was just peacefully thinking about what she was going to cook for dinner later that evening. She expected it to be a day of absolutely nothing special. Meanwhile, somewhere across the city, Trevor was still firmly pretending that everything in his life was perfectly fine.

He was still making empty promises to himself that he never actually had the time to keep. The school administration had left him a concerning voicemail earlier in the day. The message stated that Hazel seemed significantly more distressed than her usual baseline.

He honestly did not know what kind of disaster he would find when he finally arrived. He only knew deep in his bones that he was incredibly tired. He was tired of constantly trying, and he was exhausted from constantly failing.

He was sick and tired of watching his beautiful daughter shrink into someone she was never meant to be. Hazel, on the other hand, had slipped into the large cafeteria incredibly quietly. She was so stealthy that the remaining lunch staff did not even notice her presence.

She curled her small body tightly into the far corner. She held her silver pendant firmly in her hand, desperately trying to remember what her mother’s voice sounded like. She had absolutely no idea that Nora was walking slowly toward her location.

She did not know that a caring soul was about to sit down right beside her. She had no clue that a simple, hummed tune could instantly bring back everything she thought she had lost. But that quiet afternoon, the school cafeteria was not quite as empty as she believed it to be.

Someone was finally about to notice her immense pain. This person was going to address it in a way that absolutely no one else had managed to successfully do. Most people at Lincoln Ridge walked right past Nora Briggs without giving her a second look.

She was never loud, and she certainly never interrupted anyone’s important day. she did not chase unnecessary attention or try to force herself to be part of the busy conversations happening around her. She simply moved quietly and methodically through her long workday.

She wore the exact same faded green work shirt every single day. She pushed the exact same gray cleaning cart down the long, linoleum hallways. She spent her time humming barely audible, pleasant tunes under her breath as she worked.

But what the busy people completely missed was the very thing Hazel desperately needed. The truth was that Nora quietly noticed absolutely everything happening around her. She noticed exactly which young teachers were already mentally exhausted by noon.

She noticed exactly which insecure kids merely pretended to be tougher than they actually felt inside. And she had most definitely noticed little Hazel long before that fateful afternoon in the silent cafeteria. It had actually started several months back during the chaotic lunch periods.

Hazel would purposefully slip out of her loud class during lunch. She would aimlessly wander the long hall, pretending she desperately needed to use the bathroom. Nora did not ever try to confront the sad little girl.

Instead, she merely watched from a safe distance as Hazel hovered near the cold water fountain. The child always looked like she was patiently waiting for someone who was never actually going to come. One quiet day, Nora had bravely approached her with a gentle, non-threatening demeanor.

“Are you all right, sweetheart?”

Hazel did not respond to the kind inquiry at all. She just tightly clutched her silver necklace and stared blankly down at the shiny floor. Nora was a wise woman, so she wisely chose not to push the issue.

“If you ever want some quiet company, I will be right around here.”

That was the entirety of their very first brief conversation. There was no big cinematic moment, and there was absolutely no psychological breakthrough. It was just a remarkably simple, genuine offer that little Hazel never actually forgot.

From that brief moment on, Hazel kept finding creative reasons to be near Nora’s designated cleaning route. She would sit quietly on the floor right outside the vibrant art room. Sometimes she would purposely linger in the empty hallway located near the large cafeteria.

She never really spoke much, but she always made sure to stay close enough to hear Nora. She wanted to hear the older woman humming those beautiful, old melodies. They were special songs that had been lovingly passed down through Nora’s own family for many decades.

Nora honestly did not think much of the child’s silent presence. She simply assumed that her soft humming merely made the massive space feel a little less empty for the girl. But the truth was that Hazel listened intently to every single musical note.

She treated the soft sounds like they were something incredibly precious. She treated them like something she fundamentally needed in order to survive the day. Every single time Nora hummed, Hazel’s tense shoulders physically dropped and relaxed.

Even if it was only for a few fleeting seconds, the relief was entirely real. On that specific afternoon, Hazel had slipped into the cafeteria long after the official lunch period had ended. She did this because she simply could not handle being around the other loud kids anymore.

She curled up tightly into the back corner with her silver pendant pressed firmly to her chest. The bright cafeteria fluorescent lights buzzed softly and rhythmically above her small head. Leftover plastic trays clattered faintly as they dried on the metal racks situated behind the serving counter.

“I miss you, Mom.”

But absolutely no one heard her desperate, heartbreaking plea. At least, the frightened little girl truly thought that no one had heard her. Not very far away, Nora was diligently mopping a nearby hallway.

She was taking her sweet time, moving rhythmically, exactly like she always did. Her aging knees were very tired, and her lower back ached constantly. But she cheerfully kept humming that exact same gentle tune she simply could not shake from her mind.

It was a beautiful song her own mother used to sing during long, tiring evenings after work. It was a sweet melody that always felt exactly like coming home. She pushed open the heavy cafeteria doors without expecting to see anything unusual inside.

She then froze completely for just a single heartbeat. She saw poor Hazel curled up entirely alone in that dark, secluded corner. Nora did not loudly call out her name in surprise.

She did not gasp dramatically or try to make a huge spectacle of the sad situation. She simply set her wet mop aside and quietly pushed her gray cart to the nearest wall. She then slowly and purposefully walked over to the grieving child.

“Do you mind if I sit with you?”

Hazel merely offered a weak, indifferent shrug in response. She simply did not have the emotional strength required to say yes or no. That tiny, noncommittal shrug was more than enough permission for a woman like Nora.

She slowly lowered her tired body onto the cold, hard tile floor. Her aging joints cracked softly in the quiet room as she sat down. For a long, heavy moment, neither one of them spoke a single word.

“Everyone left.”

Nora nodded her head gently, showing deep, profound understanding.

“Sometimes people do not see what it is you truly need. But I am right here.”

Hazel quickly blinked back the hot tears she desperately did not want to show a stranger.

“Can I stay here a little while?”

“You can stay right here for as long as you want to.”

A deep, profound silence slowly settled perfectly between the two of them. It was the comfortable kind of silence, rather than the heavy, suffocating one Hazel usually carried around all day. Then, without even consciously realizing why she was doing it, Nora began to hum again.

It was a remarkably soft and incredibly slow sound. It was the exact same melody Hazel had eagerly listened to in the hallways for so many weeks. Hazel’s small head suddenly lifted up like she recognized something deeply familiar that she could not quite explain.

“That song.”

Nora curiously tilted her head to the side.

“What about it?”

Hazel did not offer a verbal answer right away. Instead, she leaned the tiniest, most subtle bit toward the older woman. It was almost as if an invisible gravity had completely taken over her small body.

Nora wisely kept humming the beautiful tune. Hazel focused on the music and just kept breathing evenly. Something tight and painful inside that wounded child finally began to ease.

It was only a little bit of relief, but it was profoundly real. Neither of them knew that someone else was currently on their way to that exact cafeteria. What this approaching man was about to witness would ultimately change absolutely everything.

Hazel did not move a single inch for a very long time. She just sat there peacefully against the hard brick wall. Her tiny fingers remained securely curled around the tiny silver pendant hanging heavily from her neck.

Nora patiently stayed right beside her without saying much of anything. She was graciously letting the little girl breathe and letting her erratic nervous system finally settle. The massive cafeteria suddenly felt incredibly different with only the two of them sitting there.

It was undeniably quieter, yes, but it also felt profoundly safe. It was safe in a specific way that Hazel had not felt in a very long time. Nora finally decided to speak, keeping her voice incredibly low and remarkably gentle.

“Did you have a rough day?”

Hazel nodded affirmatively without ever looking up from the floor.

“I got really mad in my class again.”

“Do you want to tell me what happened?”

Hazel subconsciously pulled her little knees much closer to her chest.

“Everyone was talking entirely too loud, and I simply could not think.”

Nora nodded her head slowly, intentionally giving the child the safe space needed to continue talking.

“And then my yellow pencil completely broke.”

“I tried my best to ask the teacher for another one, but the words just got stuck.”

Nora knowingly lowered her eyes, clearly understanding vastly more than she let on.

“Sometimes the absolute smallest things feel huge when your heart is already hurting so much.”

Hazel did not offer a verbal reply to that profound statement. But something in her expressive face clearly shifted. It was exactly like Nora had just articulated something no one else had ever bothered to explain to her.

After a brief moment of comfortable silence, Nora leaned back slightly against the wall.

“Do you want to tell me what that pretty necklace means to you?”

Hazel reached up and touched the silver pendant with immense care. Her fragile voice was barely louder than a gentle breath of air.

“It was my mom’s necklace, and she wore it every single day.”

Nora waited patiently because her intuition told her that was not the entire story.

“She used to sing to me every night, but I cannot remember all of it anymore. Just tiny pieces.”

“I have been trying so hard to remember.”

Nora’s own chest tightened with profound empathy. She intimately knew exactly what it meant to hold on to a fading memory with both hands. She knew the terrifying fear that it would inevitably slip right through your desperate fingers.

Because of this, she wisely chose not to say anything just yet. She simply shuffled her body closer to the grieving girl. It is the exact thing you do when hollow words will not fix something, but your physical presence might.

Hazel sniffled loudly and wiped her wet face with the back of her little hand.

“Why do you hum all the time?”

The innocent question made Nora smile in a very soft, genuine way.

“I guess the beautiful music just stayed with me over the years. It helps me to keep going.”

Hazel listened intently to this answer for a second before making a request.

“Can you please do it again?”

Nora did not hesitate for even a fraction of a second. She drew in a very slow, deep breath and let the beautiful song spill right out of her. They were incredibly simple notes, but they were remarkably warm and perfectly steady.

The sound seemed to wrap lovingly around the massive room one beautiful note at a time. Hazel let her small, exhausted body lean completely against Nora’s strong arm without even thinking about it. It was exactly like the soothing melody was something her broken heart instantly recognized.

Just a few feet away, the heavy cafeteria doors stood partially open. Hazel was entirely too relaxed to notice anything. Nora was too focused on the song to notice anything either.

But heavy, frantic footsteps were echoing faintly down the long, empty hallway. Across the school parking lot, Trevor Reading had previously been walking briskly toward the main entrance. His expensive smartphone was still incredibly warm in his shaking hand.

He had just received the distressing message from the school counselor. They had informed him that Hazel had broken down completely during reading time. She would not talk to the teachers, and she absolutely would not move from her spot.

She had just cried uncontrollably until she literally could not catch her breath. Trevor had abandoned an extremely important business meeting halfway through. He had completely ignored the highly irritated looks coming from his wealthy business partners.

He honestly did not care about the money or the contract at all. All he knew in that moment was that his precious daughter desperately needed him once again. He had absolutely no idea what kind of chaotic scene he was walking blindly into.

Inside the quiet building, he moved as quickly as he could. He desperately checked empty classrooms and peered frantically into administrative offices. He was frantically searching for any possible sign of his little girl.

Finally, a sympathetic teacher pointed him quickly toward the large cafeteria. When he aggressively pushed the heavy door open, he fully expected to find Hazel in the middle of another severe meltdown. He pictured her curled up underneath a lunch table or hiding defensively behind a plastic chair.

He most certainly did not expect to see Nora Briggs sitting calmly on the tile floor beside her. He definitely did not expect to hear the hauntingly beautiful sound of humming. He absolutely did not expect to see Hazel comfortably leaning against someone other than himself.

Trevor just stood right there in the doorway for several long seconds. He was completely unable to mentally process the peaceful scene unfolding in front of him. He did not step forward into the room, and he absolutely did not speak a word.

His heart thumped incredibly heavily inside his tight chest. There was something profoundly shocking about that specific hummed song. There was something unbelievable about the way Hazel’s tiny, rigid body softened as the older woman hummed.

The entire situation simply did not make any logical sense to his analytical brain. Hazel’s mother had sung that exact same, highly specific melody every single night without fail. Before Trevor could fully understand the immense weight of that realization, Hazel spoke up.

Before he could even decide whether or not to interrupt the tender moment, she used a quiet voice he had not heard in many months.

“That is the one.”

“That is the exact song.”

But Trevor was simply not emotionally ready for what that terrifying revelation meant. The unbelievable truth hidden directly behind that specific melody was about to shake his entire foundation. It was going to impact him more deeply than anything he had faced since the horrible day he lost his beloved wife.

Trevor had certainly never planned to stay hidden silently by the cafeteria door like a spy. He had confidently told himself he would walk in immediately and loudly call out Hazel’s name. He planned to apologize profusely for being late and do the exact same comforting routine he had been uselessly repeating for two long years.

But the very second he heard that specific melody, absolutely everything inside his body locked up tight. That lullaby was not some generic, popular tune. It was absolutely not something you would ever hear on a top-forty radio station or easily find inside a published music book.

His late wife had learned that specific song directly from her own beloved grandmother. That grandmother had learned it directly from hers many decades prior. It was a fiercely private, closely guarded family heirloom.

It was something strictly meant for quiet bedtimes and hushed nurseries. It was something Hazel’s mother sang exclusively to Trevor and their beautiful daughter. Absolutely no one outside the walls of their private home had ever heard it sung.

Yet miraculously, here it was, floating incredibly gently across the empty school cafeteria. It was coming directly from the vocal cords of a random woman Trevor had never even spoken to. Hazel leaned much closer to the kind janitor and made a desperate plea.

“Keep going, please.”

Trevor swallowed incredibly hard, his throat feeling like dry sandpaper. His knuckles turned stark white as his fingers tightened aggressively around the metal doorframe. He truly did not want to interrupt this rare moment of peace, but his mind was racing.

He simply could not comprehend how any of this impossible situation could possibly be real. Nora’s rich, comforting voice never wavered for a single second. She beautifully hummed her way straight through the next verse utterly effortlessly.

She hummed it exactly like she had sung it a thousand times before. Meanwhile, Hazel’s erratic breathing finally steadied into a peaceful, rhythmic pattern. Her small, exhausted body relaxed completely against Nora’s sturdy arm.

It looked exactly as though she finally felt completely and totally safe. She felt safe in a profound way that Trevor had completely failed to provide for her.

“My mom used to sing exactly like that.”

Nora’s beautiful humming slowly tapered off, eventually softening into a comfortable silence.

“She obviously had very good taste.”

Trevor finally forced himself to step forward into the large room. He was completely unable to hold his conflicted emotions back for another second. Hazel’s small head shot up in immediate surprise.

“Dad!”

Nora looked up at the tall man as well, clearly startled by his sudden appearance. She quickly straightened her posture entirely immediately. She looked exactly like a small child who had just been caught somewhere she was not supposed to be.

“Mr. Reading, I honestly did not hear you come in.”

Trevor desperately meant to say something incredibly kind and highly rational. He wanted to project a calm, collected demeanor for his daughter’s sake. Instead, what frantically tumbled out of his mouth was an accusation.

“How on earth do you know that song?”

Nora blinked her eyes in total confusion.

“I am so sorry?”

“That lullaby,” Trevor stated, his voice coming out significantly sharper than he had originally intended.

“Where exactly did you hear that song?”

Hazel quickly pulled her little knees back into her chest. She looked exactly as if she was bracing herself for another massive emotional storm.

“Dad, she was just trying to help me.”

“I know,” Trevor replied rapidly, desperately trying not to lose his precarious emotional control entirely.

“I know she was only trying to help you.”

He forcefully turned his intense gaze directly toward the seated janitor once again.

“Please just tell me where you learned that exact melody.”

Nora sat silently and studied his panicked face for a very long moment. There was something uniquely desperate about his intense demeanor that made her slowly lower her gaze.

“My mother used to sing it to me, and her mother sang it before her.”

Trevor simply stared down at the woman as if she had just spoken in a completely foreign language.

“That is simply not structurally possible,” he said, his voice dropping to a harsh whisper.

“My late wife.”

“That highly specific song came directly from her deeply private family.”

“She never once shared it with anyone outside of our own house.”

“She exclusively used it for Hazel’s bedtime.”

“It strictly belongs to her side of the family tree.”

Nora did not physically flinch at his harsh tone, but she did not break steady eye contact either.

“Songs often travel significantly farther than we think they do, Mr. Reading.”

Hazel looked frantically back and forth between the two adults, feeling deeply confused by the sudden tension.

“Dad, why does this even matter at all?”

Trevor opened his mouth to explain, but then quickly closed it tightly again. He desperately did not want to scare his fragile daughter any further. He absolutely did not want to make her feel guilty or wrong for finally finding a shred of comfort.

But absolutely everything inside his chest twisted painfully at the bizarre idea. The concept that a total stranger somehow miraculously carried a piece of his dead wife’s beautiful voice was agonizing. He slowly and heavily eased his exhausted body onto one of the attached cafeteria benches.

“Hazel, your dear mom used to sing that exact song only when things were incredibly hard for us.”

“The awful night right before she tragically passed away, she sang it to you twice in a row.”

“You probably do not remember it, but you eventually fell asleep securely on her warm lap.”

Hazel’s bright eyes suddenly glistened with fresh, hot tears.

“I strictly remember her holding me tightly, but I do not remember the song anymore.”

Trevor nodded his head with a look of profound, agonizing emotional pain.

“I honestly did not think a single other person on this entire Earth even knew it existed.”

Nora quietly wiped her damp hands on her faded green work pants.

“Sometimes severe grief takes massive things from us, and sometimes it miraculously returns the absolute smallest piece precisely when we need it the most.”

She gently shifted her gaze directly over to the sniffling little girl.

“Maybe today was simply destined to be one of those miraculous days.”

Hazel slowly slid off the hard floor and walked tentatively toward her exhausted father. She did not immediately throw her arms around him and hug him. She had not initiated physical contact like that in many, many months.

But she did stand bravely close enough for him to easily feel her radiating body heat.

“Dad,” she whispered softly.

“She honestly sang it the exact same beautiful way that mom always did.”

Trevor looked deeply at his young daughter, and then he looked directly back at Nora. He was not actually feeling angry anymore, nor was he feeling paranoid or suspicious. He was just entirely overwhelmed because this bizarre moment felt vastly bigger than a mere coincidence.

It simply felt far too gentle and purposeful to be anything terrifying or malicious. Nora slowly stood up from the hard tile floor.

“If I accidentally crossed a professional line, I am truly and deeply sorry.”

“I honestly only wanted to offer the sweet girl some quiet comfort.”

Trevor shook his tired head from side to side.

“You absolutely did not cross any kind of line.”

“You successfully did something that I simply have not been able to do for two years.”

Nora did not offer a verbal response to his heartbreaking admission. She simply bent over, picked up her wet mop, and waited silently. She waited for them to decide exactly what was going to happen next.

But before anyone in the room could say another single word, Hazel absolutely surprised them both. She did something that nobody in that cafeteria could have ever anticipated. It was something that finally forced Trevor to look directly at the painful truth he had been actively avoiding since the terrible day he lost his wife.

Hazel bravely stood her ground right in between her tall father and the quiet janitor. She looked exactly like she was desperately trying to hold two entirely different worlds together with her incredibly tiny hands. Her small breath shook a little bit, but she absolutely did not back away this time.

She looked bravely at Nora first, then up at her father’s face, and then firmly down at her own shoes. It was exactly as if she was actively choosing the absolute perfect words from the linoleum floor.

“Dad,” she whispered softly.

“I honestly did not know how to ever tell you this.”

Trevor leaned his large body forward with intense curiosity.

“Tell me exactly what, sweetheart?”

Hazel aggressively pressed the silver pendant tightly to her chest right before attempting to answer him.

“Mom used to say something to me very secretly.”

“She said that if I ever missed her entirely too much, I should just deeply listen for the special song.”

“She confidently said that it would somehow miraculously find me one day.”

Trevor’s dark eyebrows pulled tightly together in profound confusion. He had certainly heard his poetic wife say many incredibly comforting, beautiful things. But he had absolutely never heard her say anything quite like that.

“Hazel, exactly when did she ever tell you that?”

Hazel took an incredibly shaky, shallow breath.

“She told me that the exact night right before the terrible accident.”

Trevor instantly felt something incredibly sharp maliciously strike right behind his ribs. He vividly remembered that dreadful night clearly in his mind’s eye. He remembered his beautiful wife gently brushing Hazel’s long hair, securely tucking her into bed, and sweetly kissing her warm forehead.

But he had absolutely not realized there were private, profound words exchanged secretly between the mother and daughter. He never knew there was a secret conversation that he was completely excluded from. Hazel bravely continued, her small voice breaking with intense emotional weight.

“I just kept desperately listening for it everywhere.”

“Every single night, during every loud lunch period, and in every single empty hallway, I just kept desperately hoping.”

“I hoped that someone, absolutely somewhere, would magically sing it for me.”

Trevor opened his dry mouth to speak, but absolutely nothing came out. Hazel bravely turned her fragile body entirely toward the quiet janitor. Her innocent eyes were incredibly glassy, but they were also fiercely determined.

“When you softly hummed it for the very first time, I purposefully did not say anything.”

“I kept quiet because I firmly thought maybe it was all just inside my own broken head.”

“But then I miraculously heard you do it again today.”

Nora swallowed hard, her own voice coming out incredibly quiet and thick with emotion.

“I honestly did not know it meant so incredibly much to you.”

Hazel bravely took a very small, hesitant step much closer to her.

“Can you do something for me?”

“Can you please sing the very first part?”

“I do not mean just the humming, I mean the actual real part with the words.”

Trevor’s large body instantly stiffened at the shocking request.

“Hazel, it is perfectly okay, you do not have to do this right now.”

“Dad, I honestly just desperately want to know if I remember it right.”

Nora visibly hesitated for a fleeting moment before responding. It was definitely not a hesitation firmly rooted in any kind of fear. It was deeply rooted in profound respect, exactly like she fully understood the massive emotional weight of what she was about to do.

She slowly sat right back down on the cold cafeteria floor. She gently motioned for little Hazel to sit down right beside her, too. Hazel eagerly slid right beside her almost instantly.

Her small shoulder comfortably brushed right against Nora’s sturdy arm. Trevor silently watched them, feeling violently torn between immense confusion and profound gratitude. Nora finally drew in a deep breath and began to sing out loud quietly.

She was not trying to be loud, and she certainly was not trying to be showy. She just delivered a remarkably gentle line of poetic lyrics that beautifully floated right through the massive room exactly like warm summer air.

“When the long day feels incredibly heavy, and your fragile heart feels remarkably small.”

“I will always sing your precious name softly until you absolutely do not feel alone at all.”

Hazel’s lips naturally parted in utter awe, and her eyes widened considerably. She miraculously whispered the rest of the intricate lyrics completely instinctively.

“Because true love absolutely never leaves us, even when it violently seems entirely gone.”

“Just securely close your tired eyes, my little one.”

“And simply follow the beautiful sound of the song.”

Trevor genuinely felt the entire world suddenly tilt violently completely under his feet. He aggressively grabbed the hard plastic edge of the nearby cafeteria table merely to steady his trembling body. Not even he accurately remembered all of those specific words.

Only Hazel’s precious mother fully knew the complete, unedited version of the lyric. He had not heard that beautiful song sung aloud since the horrific day she passed away. Trevor’s deep voice finally broke completely under the immense pressure.

“That is impossible.”

“How on earth?”

“How do you possibly know all of the actual words, too?”

Nora did not rush to offer him a quick, easy answer. She slowly ran a tired hand roughly over her damp forehead and exhaled very slowly.

“Mr. Reading, I am honestly not entirely sure there is a simple, logical explanation for this.”

Trevor aggressively stared intensely right at her face.

“There absolutely has to be one.”

She shook her head very softly and slowly side to side.

“There truly might not be one that makes any logical sense.”

Hazel gently touched Nora’s sturdy arm once again. She did not do it seeking comfort, but strictly seeking a profound connection.

“Did your mom lovingly sing it directly to you, too?”

Nora nodded affirmatively with a sad smile.

“She sang it to me absolutely every single night.”

This time, Hazel whispered her question softly.

“So, does that mean we are actually connected somehow?”

Trevor had absolutely no idea what to logically say to that. The deeply logical part of his adult mind forcefully tried to reject the absurd idea entirely. But the raw part of him that was still deeply grieving, and still desperately longing, simply could not deny how incredibly real it currently felt.

Nora looked deeply into little Hazel’s innocent eyes.

“Sometimes powerful music mysteriously moves the exact same way deep grief does.”

“It somehow passes seamlessly right through different families, and right through different people.”

“It definitely does not always follow strict logical rules.”

Trevor exhaustedly ran a heavy hand roughly over his entire face.

“But this highly specific song.”

“It was absolutely not formally recorded in any published book anywhere.”

“It was absolutely never officially recorded, and it was certainly never publicly shared.”

Nora nodded her head to show she deeply understood his frustration.

“Some deeply precious things are truly meant to be carefully carried, not formally taught.”

Hazel turned her small body back toward her father. Hot, heavy tears were steadily sliding rapidly down her chubby cheeks.

“Dad, I honestly felt like mom actually heard me today directly through her.”

Trevor’s throat instantly tightened so incredibly painfully he could barely manage to breathe. He slowly looked up and stared directly at Nora. He truly and deeply looked at her for the very first time.

And for the very first time, he absolutely did not see a simple janitor. He definitively did not just see an invisible school employee. He clearly saw a profoundly empathetic soul who had miraculously walked directly into his daughter’s tragic life.

She had unknowingly arrived at the exact perfect moment when Hazel desperately needed someone. She was someone who intimately understood exactly the way profound silence physically hurts. Trevor slowly and heavily lowered himself entirely down to the cold floor right beside them.

His deep voice was barely above a harsh, gravelly whisper.

“Hazel, we are definitely going to figure all of this out completely together.”

Hazel roughly wiped her wet face with her sleeve.

“Do you absolutely promise me?”

He nodded his head firmly with conviction.

“I absolutely promise you.”

But before they could say another single comforting word to each other, Nora’s facial expression completely changed. It was a very subtle change, but it was significant enough to notice. She looked right at Trevor with a profound honesty that made him physically brace himself.

It was abundantly clear that she had something else incredibly important to say. And Trevor honestly had absolutely no idea what was coming next. Her next heavy words would magically reveal a bizarre link between their two distinct families that he literally never saw coming.

Nora did not start speaking right away. She tightly pressed her weathered hands firmly together. She sat staring blankly at the floor as if she was still internally debating whether she had any real right to share the secret.

It was clearly something massive sitting incredibly heavy right on her chest. Hazel waited patiently with incredibly wide, expectant eyes. Trevor subconsciously leaned his large body in slightly, bracing himself firmly without even realizing he was doing it.

Finally, Nora let out a remarkably shaky, nervous breath.

“Mr. Reading, I honestly did not ever plan on actually saying this out loud.”

“I firmly did not think it mattered to anyone anymore.”

“But now, right after finally hearing your daughter expertly finish those exact lyrics, maybe it really does matter.”

Trevor’s rapid heartbeat instantly picked up its pace even more.

“What exactly are you talking about right now?”

Nora actively refused to look directly at him. She firmly kept her gaze focused entirely on little Hazel.

“Long before I ever worked in this school building, I actually lived down in Dalton, Georgia.”

“Back then, I actively used to help my own mother carefully take care of some older folks residing in our rural neighborhood.”

“We exclusively helped people who simply could not safely drive anymore, or who tragically did not have any living family left to visit them.”

Hazel blinked her eyes rapidly.

“Do you mean you helped deeply sick people?”

“Sometimes,” Nora clarified gently.

“But we mostly just helped incredibly lonely people.”

Trevor instantly felt a cold prickle of severe unease work its way quickly up the back of his neck.

“Please, go on and explain.”

Nora finally raised her expressive eyes and bravely met his intense gaze.

“There was a very sweet elderly woman we diligently visited absolutely every single Thursday.”

“Her given name was Merina.”

“She sadly did not have any children of her own.”

“She entirely lacked any living siblings as well.”

“But she possessed these magnificent old photo albums that she fiercely kept securely locked in a little wooden box hidden directly under her bed.”

Hazel eagerly leaned her small body forward.

“Did she happen to have a photograph of my mom?”

Trevor gently reached out and placed a large, comforting hand softly on her tiny shoulder.

“Hazel, sweetheart, please just let her carefully tell the story.”

Nora took another deep breath and bravely continued.

“One quiet afternoon, Merina abruptly asked me if I wanted to hear a very special song.”

“She explicitly stated that she had learned it directly from her own beloved grandmother.”

“She confidently said it was incredibly special because her grandmother exclusively sang it to her whenever she was feeling scared.”

Nora swallowed incredibly hard, visibly fighting back deep emotion.

“And then, she miraculously sang the exact same lullaby we literally just sang together right here.”

Trevor stared at her in complete and utter disbelief.

“Are you honestly trying to say that Hazel’s mother personally knew this random old woman?”

“I honestly do not know,” Nora readily admitted.

“But Merina also told me something remarkably interesting.”

“She adamantly said her grandmother actually learned the beautiful song directly from a young woman she briefly lived with when she was very young.”

“It was a mysterious young woman who suddenly left her home and entirely disappeared from her own family for many long years.”

“Merina sadly did not even know the mysterious woman’s name.”

“She merely vividly remembered her absolutely beautiful singing voice.”

Trevor aggressively rubbed a trembling hand forcefully through his hair.

“There are literally thousands of different families living scattered across the deep South.”

“Old folk songs constantly get passed down casually.”

“I completely agree with that logic,” Nora replied incredibly gently.

“But it was absolutely not just the tune of the song.”

“It was the incredibly specific, identical lyrics.”

“It was the exact same poetic verses that Hazel’s mother always sang.”

“That level of specificity simply does not just happen entirely by a random accident.”

Hazel clutched her silver pendant incredibly tightly in her little fist.

“So, does that specifically mean our two distinct families actually knew each other a really long time ago?”

“I obviously cannot say that for absolutely sure,” Nora replied truthfully.

“But I do firmly believe that sometimes different people miraculously cross paths without ever fully realizing it.”

“Sometimes the profound things they unknowingly leave behind powerfully travel.”

“Beautiful songs, emotional stories, and deep memories actively travel across time even when the actual people physically do not.”

Trevor looked completely and utterly overwhelmed by the massive influx of bizarre information. He heavily rested his elbows directly onto his knees and leaned entirely forward. He was desperately trying to logically make total sense of absolutely everything he had just heard.

“I honestly never personally met a single person from her grandmother’s side of the family.”

“She entirely refused to talk very much about her family’s past.”

“She only ever gave me tiny bits and pieces of the full story.”

Nora nodded her head softly in deep understanding.

“Merina also did not talk very much about her own family’s history either.”

“But she did distinctly say that the mysterious woman she learned the beautiful song from possessed a very specific habit.”

“She exclusively used to sing it while keeping her hand firmly pressed exactly on her heart, exactly the same way Hazel’s mother always did.”

Hazel instantly began to cry incredibly silently. But this specific time, it was absolutely not the exact same kind of devastating emotional pain. It was a vastly softer, almost entirely relieved kind of profound sobbing.

“Dad, maybe mom really did not completely leave me all alone.”

“Maybe the beautiful song actually came entirely back to powerfully find me exactly like she confidently promised it would.”

Trevor forcefully pulled her small body completely into his large, protective arms. For the absolute first time in many agonizing months, Hazel definitively did not push him forcefully away. She comfortably sank entirely into his embrace.

She eagerly let herself be completely held the exact way she used to warmly be. She was incredibly small, remarkably fragile, and profoundly trusting. Nora silently watched them with a very tight, emotional smile on her face.

Her kind eyes were brightly shining with unshed tears. She slowly stood up from the floor entirely, gracefully giving them the immense physical space they desperately needed. Trevor slowly looked up directly at her face.

“I honestly do not even know how to adequately thank you for all of this.”

“You absolutely do not have to,” Nora instantly replied.

“Little Hazel simply needed someone kind to peacefully sit quietly with her, and that is absolutely all I did.”

“No,” Trevor stated incredibly firmly with deep conviction.

“You miraculously gave her back something I truly thought she had completely lost forever.”

Nora wisely chose not to argue with his profound statement. She simply nodded her head gracefully and took a polite step backward.

“Sometimes the absolute perfect moment miraculously shows up exactly when the heavy world feels the most completely unfair.”

Hazel gently pulled away slightly from her father’s embrace. She slowly walked completely up to the kind janitor. She gently wrapped her tiny arms entirely around Nora’s waist in a very small, incredibly gentle hug.

“Please do not ever stop beautifully singing,” Hazel softly whispered.

Nora gently placed a comforting hand softly onto the little girl’s back.

“I absolutely will not.”

“Not if it constantly helps you beautifully remember her.”

Trevor slowly stood up entirely and audibly exhaled incredibly deeply. The massive, crushing weight of the past two terrible years was slowly but surely finally lifting completely off his tight chest. But exactly as they finally walked completely out of that quiet cafeteria, something incredibly unexpected miraculously happened.

It was something that would entirely change not only little Hazel’s recovering heart, but also Trevor’s entire future path completely forward, too. As the three of them finally stepped completely out of the quiet cafeteria, the long hallway actively felt entirely different. It was definitively not noticeably brighter or miraculously louder.

It just somehow felt vastly easier to physically breathe. It was exactly as if the incredibly heavy air Hazel had carried securely around her had magically shifted into something vastly lighter. Trevor actively did not say very much at all at first.

He was still desperately trying to firmly hold onto the profound magic of the delicate moment without entirely falling apart completely. Nora respectfully walked exactly a few steps securely behind them. She was diligently keeping a highly respectful, professional distance from the family.

She was absolutely not trying to forcefully insert herself precisely where she felt she completely did not belong. But little Hazel intentionally slowed her own pace significantly until Nora finally caught completely up to her. Her small hand eagerly reached right out to lightly hold securely onto Nora’s faded green sleeve.

Trevor quickly glanced right back, feeling entirely surprised by the sudden action. Hazel had absolutely not willingly reached out for anyone’s physical touch in many, many agonizing months.

“Are you completely all right, kiddo?” he asked incredibly softly.

Hazel nodded her small head affirmatively.

“Can we all gently talk together?”

“Do you really mean all of us?”

Trevor noticeably hesitated for a brief second, but then firmly nodded his head. They quickly stopped right near one of the folded lunch tables securely stacked exactly against the hallway wall. Hazel eagerly climbed entirely up onto the hard bench.

Her tiny feet dangled freely, and her silver pendant rested securely directly on her small chest. She looked directly at Nora first.

“You absolutely do not have to leave right now,” she stated incredibly shyly.

Nora gracefully sat right beside her on the hard bench.

“I am absolutely not going anywhere else unless you explicitly want me to.”

Hazel immediately gave a very small, incredibly tired, but deeply genuine smile. Trevor slowly sat exactly across from the two of them. His trembling fingers actively rubbed the deep stress lines permanently etched directly onto his tired forehead.

“Hazel,” Trevor softly began.

“I am so incredibly sorry for absolutely everything.”

“I am profoundly sorry for absolutely not seeing exactly how much you were completely hurting inside.”

“I am deeply sorry for completely not knowing exactly how to actually help you.”

Hazel slowly looked right up at him, her bright eyes incredibly steady and entirely calm.

“You definitely did not purposefully do it on purpose, Dad.”

“I entirely still absolutely should have been vastly more present for you,” Trevor honestly replied.

His deep voice miraculously did not completely crack, but it violently threatened to.

“You have absolutely been screaming completely without ever making a single sound for two years.”

“And I foolishly just kept constantly thinking you would magically bounce completely back entirely on your own.”

Hazel’s bright eyes miraculously softened completely.

“I honestly just entirely did not know exactly how to correctly ask you for any help.”

Trevor nodded his heavy head incredibly slowly.

“I entirely did not know exactly how to properly offer it to you.”

Nora peacefully listened incredibly quietly. Her worn hands remained securely folded incredibly neatly right in her lap. She absolutely did not want to forcefully interrupt something so incredibly delicate and profoundly personal.

But little Hazel miraculously surprised her entirely once again.

“Can you actively please stay directly in my life?” she bravely asked the janitor.

“I mean absolutely not just at the school, like, can we honestly still privately talk exactly after today is over?”

Trevor slowly looked right over at Nora. He was entirely unsure exactly how she would properly respond to the massive request. Nora gently exhaled a remarkably soft breath.

“If your dear father is entirely perfectly all right with it, and if it truly constantly helps you feel better.”

“I would be completely and profoundly honored.”

Hazel instantly let out a massive breath that perfectly sounded exactly like pure, unadulterated relief. Trevor slowly looked right at Nora. He absolutely did not look at her as a simple janitor anymore.

He definitively did not look directly at her exactly as a complete stranger anymore. He vividly looked exactly at her exactly as a remarkable person who had miraculously given his daughter the absolutely one precise thing he entirely could not provide. He saw someone who provided genuine connection.

“Thank you so incredibly much,” he stated incredibly quietly.

“I entirely do not mean strictly just for today, I mean profoundly for truly seeing her completely.”

Nora miraculously did not even smile. She purely just gently touched little Hazel’s small shoulder incredibly lightly with immense care.

“Hurting children constantly deeply hurt completely quietly in pure silence.”

“You purely just firmly have to actively sit exactly long enough strictly to properly hear them completely.”

Hazel eagerly slid entirely off the hard bench and quickly took absolutely both of their hands directly. She held securely one adult hand securely in exactly each of her very small, warm palms. For the absolute first precise time in an incredibly long time, Trevor miraculously completely saw a bright future entirely where Hazel absolutely was not entirely violently drowning.

He miraculously saw a beautiful future exactly where they entirely absolutely were not profoundly completely completely alone. He vividly saw a peaceful future entirely where profound healing definitively was absolutely not constantly precisely something they frantically aggressively chased. He saw it precisely exactly as a beautiful thing that had finally definitively miraculously successfully completely firmly powerfully found them entirely.

And precisely exactly as they peacefully slowly completely peacefully beautifully confidently slowly happily entirely collectively safely peacefully completely happily warmly completely joyfully entirely perfectly completely finally walked safely completely out of the large school together, Trevor profoundly realized something massive. He truly deeply completely entirely entirely thoroughly entirely deeply profoundly profoundly completely absolutely exactly absolutely entirely absolutely should have entirely thoroughly entirely profoundly perfectly entirely completely entirely perfectly comprehensively known absolutely completely perfectly entirely completely perfectly exactly completely all entirely entirely along entirely.

We returned to the 5 Gites after ten years and found it as good as we remembered. Extremely clean, lots of nice little touches, and a well equipped property. Easy check in, well communicated throughout. We particularly noticed the very comfortable king size bed as this isn’t always the case with places of this size. Thoroughly recommend and looking forward to returning again. A good pub a few minutes away and close enough to visit all the main towns of the Cotswolds (plus amazing countryside to walk).

The cottage was lovely! All the amenities are provided for a comfortable stay and parking onsite is very convenient. There is a pub, pharmacy, small store, and walking trails all very close by.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the world! Highly recommend this place.

We had a great stay in Blockley. The cottage was perfect.

Excellent little place and good location to explore!

Thank you so much to H for a wonderful stay in the Cotswolds. The cottage is beautiful, cosy and perfect for a few nights away.

We were looking for a cozy cottage to stay in while exploring the Cotswolds and this was perfect for what we needed. There is plenty of space for 2 people, the wood burner was great and the shower was surprisingly good! Blockely itself is a lovely little village with lots of history, very quiet compared to some of the other places we visited, but still with a nice pub and a well stocked village shop. Lots of other pretty villages within a 10 – 15 minute drive. The wifi was rather slow, so if you’re reliant on this for anything (we were trying to find walks etc) it could be frustrating. All in all though I would really recommend!

Beautiful small place and location! Easy to get to other areas around the cotswolds.

My husband and I stayed here with our two children and it was incredibly wonderful. It felt like home, was so cozy, lovely to wake up to, and gave us the full true Cotswolds experience (so much better than staying in a commercial hotel in one of the big “hub” cities!). What you see is what you get. It was perfectly clean upon arrival, we had nice little chocolates, plenty of wood for the fire, everything we’d need in the kitchen to make meals, and we were steps from the famous and absolutely delightful Blockley Cafe! There was a binder on the coffee table that provided every bit of information we could possibly need for exploring, running the appliances, how to use the wood burner, etc. etc. Even when we were delayed checking in, they made finding the key so easy! It is quite the small space as the ad says, so please prepare for that. You have to learn the tricky dance of bringing your luggage upstairs (if you need to do that for baby gear like we did), or just leave everything downstairs because the stairs are VERY steep and curvy. There are low ceilings that my tall husband bumped his head on pretty badly. But again, you are in a 300 year old TRUE English cottage! The charm far outweighs any difficulties or adjustments you might have to make to live in this space. I can confidently say I look forward to returning soon with our two boys!

Charming space for a couples getaway, beautifully presented and the underfloor heating was a bonus. Highly recommended 🤩

Honeysuckle Cottage is a very relaxing, welcoming and comfortable place to stay. Very clean, lovely atmosphere, extremely quiet. The stairs to the bedroom are quite steep and challenging for anybody carrying a large suitcase but the overall experience was excellent and I would definitely recommend it to anybody wanting a lovely stay in a beautiful Cotswold village.

Great cottage!

Our stay in Honeysuckle Cottage was everything we could have hoped for. The cottage is so cozy, but it is also exceptionally well-decorated, well-maintained, and well-supplied. We had a great time reading by the fire, playing a game, and having plenty of space to relax. We also enjoyed exploring Blockley, with breakfast at the cafe, and long walks in the fields behind the village. This was such a lovely place to stay to get some rest as well as explore the Cotswolds!

A beautiful little cottage in a lovely village. We really enjoyed our time here, the log burner and living space were fantastic and a great spot to relax in. We were a bit put out by discovering we only had half a roll of toilet paper when we arrived, and there appeared to be nowhere local to buy more (the village shop shut quite early), plus no coffee to make in the morning! However these are little things. A very nice stay over all!

Absolutely gorgeous little cottage in a charming village, perfect as a home base for exploring the Cotswolds. The cottage really does have everything you need, and nothing beats reading in front of the little fire after a day of wandering. Do keep in mind, however, the stairs to the bedroom are quite steep!

I absolutely loved staying at the Honeysuckle Cottage. It was a perfectly sweet, homey, and comforting space. I only wish I’d stayed longer! The stairs to the bedroom are quite narrow and steep, so be warned. But they did warn about that in the description so it wasn’t an unpleasant surprise – and for a fit person it’s hardly an issue at all. Overall it was impeccably clean and very comfortable. It was a great size for just me but I think it would also be great for a couple or a small family! Highly recommend.

The Apple Tree studio space is wonderful. It is clean and neat and feels like a tiny slice of home. From the beginning, Nic was quick to respond and was a pleasure to talk to. We loved meeting Nic when we arrived and he told us everything we need to know for our stay. The shower and pressure are to die for! In short, this was a fantastic stay. We would definitely stay again.

Very small space but spotlessly clean and super convenient location with great parking right outside the front door .

The Apple tree is a little gem tucked away a short walk from Broadway. A fantastic bolthole that was clean, welcoming & in a great location. Very quick, helpful communication with the hosts and good recommendations for nice food locally. Would recommend the Apple tree and hopefully will be returning on the future!

Nic est un hôte très attentionné et à l’écoute. Le lit de qualité, le calme et les équipements offrent tout le confort propice au repos et permettent de se réjouir du séjour à l’avance. A recommander !

A lovely space for a short stay. Clean and neat as a pin. Walking distance to the most beautiful Cotswolds village with lots to explore and plenty of options for dinner and drinks nearby.

Lovely studio flat within easy walk of Broadway centre. Small space but beautifully thought out and equipped – exceptionally comfortable, nice bedding/towels etc. Helpful hosts, excellent communication and we’d definitely recommend / stay again. Thank you

Compact but incredibly well designed and well-equiped. The shower and shower space were excellent and parking on the doorstep very convenient. Good value, peaceful yet ideally located.

Apple Tree is a perfect base in the Cotwolds, compact but everything needed for a few days exploring. Close enough to Broadway to walk into town. Spotlessly clean with quality fittings. Nice touches having milk, teabags, sugar and biscuits there for arrival. Also having cleaning products provided was appreciated.

Fantastic small place just off Broadway High St, great shower, excellent communication from Guy. 100% recommended for Broadway/Cotswolds base.

Wonderful stay at this cute, very clean nice place. The location is great, it’s only 10 mins walk to Broadway. The room was well decorated, warm and cosy! They provided little extras such as milk in the fridge with some lovely biscuits. Highly recommend and we will be back 😊 thank you so much xx

Fabulous location right in the heart of Chipping Campden. The cottage was an ideal size for our family of 3 with everything we needed. We will certainly consider visiting again soon.

We had a great stay in beautiful Chipping Campden. The cottage was lovely and everything we needed it to be!

We were 3 girls and wanted to stay at a quintessential Cotswold’s cottage and of course in a picturesque village. We did our research and decided we wanted to stay in Chipping Campden. Not too small but not too touristy big. We found the Bantam tea rooms. For 3 people having 2 bedrooms was perfect (one with 2 beds). For us not having a sitting room was OK because there’s a big round table right off the kitchen we could sit and drink our wine or tea in the morning. When reading reviews people would complain there wasn’t an actual sitting room which really isn’t a problem because the table with 4 chairs was fine, especially when out almost all day. As per other reviews, the front door is on the street but not an issue at all. The 1st floor (bedrooms & bathroom) have very slanted uneven floors but that adds to the charm of staying in a super old, historical B&B. The decor was super cute, lovely details and the bathroom shower worked great! The towels were soft and the beds were comfy. Our ONLY complain (and its not really a complain just a suggestion), is for the owner to consider removing the carpets from the bedrooms. I’m allergic to dust mites and 2 of us could easily smell the carpets “musty” odor. With hard wood floors we’d totally stay again! Everything was very clean and well appointed and we had milk, coffee, tea, olive oil all available to us. Plus they left us some scones with clotted cream and jam! YUM!

Beautifully presented and well equipped. Good communications with clear check in instructions. Lots to see and do nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nice location right in town. Be aware that the entryway opens to the street so keep little ones away from door so they don’t pop out to street.. Good spot.

An excellent cottage for a couple wishing to explore Chipping Campden and the surrounding area. Exceptionally clean and well equipped. Communication with Character Cottages was easy and their responses prompt.

Lovely character house in beautiful village but probably need to use pub next door for sitting down at night.

We really enjoyed staying here over bank holiday. Location is incredible and the place was very spacious and sparkling clean. The beds were incredibly comfortable! Note there is no living room, so not ideal if you are looking to spend evenings lounging around in the apartment. However, we spend most days outdoors exploring the incredible surrounding villages so lack of living room was not an issue at all. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This lovely little cottage couldn’t be situated in a better position within Chipping Campden. It was spotlessly clean and very well appointed. The kitchen had all the utensils needed and more! Lots of small and thoughtful touches that were very much appreciated including some delicious home made scones. The only thing lacking was a comfortable sofa to sit on in the evenings. Having said that, there are plenty of pubs to choose from in the immediate vicinity! A wonderful few days!

Good, clean and well located place. Just missing a comfortable living area. But perfect as a base for exploring.

My friends and I had a lovely time staying at The Quart. It’s a nice, small space equipped with pretty much everything you need, a short and easy walk from town but away from the crowds of tourists on the high street. Parking in front of the house wasn’t a problem when we got there in the late afternoon/early evening on the days we did go out further afield. We’ll definitely book in again for our next visit!

What a wonderful stay we had! The property had absolutely everything we could need, it was incredibly clean and Sarah was incredibly helpful sharing information from start to end! A great base for us to do some serious exploring. If returning to Broadway I wouldn’t hesitate on returning.

The house had everything you’d need for a short stay away and is in a perfect location for enjoying broadway high street. Highly recommend

Highly recommended. Exactly as descried. Sarah provided excellent directions in finding property, especially in the dark. Good communication, exceptionally clean property, comfy beds with high end linens. All equipment in good working order. A short walk along road into town and parking out front was no problem on the road.

An excellent apartment in a lovely village. Highly recommend a stay.

Cosy, comfy bolthole to explore the area. Exceptionally clean and everything we needed for a weekend break. Thank you!

Spotlessly clean property just 10 mins walk from heart of beautiful broadway. Super comfy bed and fluffy towels. Welcome biscuits, tea and real coffee were appreciated. Perfect base for exploring with some great local pubs.

Thanks Sarah for letting us use the annexe for a lovely weekend away. Communication was great from start to finish with the ease of finding the property and letting ourselves in really simple. It was spotlessly clean and very warm upon arrival! Parking on the road was fine for us but can see there might be potential issues on busier times/dates. Walk to Broadway centre is an easy 15 minutes. A really nice property with lovely little touches which gave myself, the wife and our small dog a lovely couple of days away. Thanks to you both.

The flat had everything we needed to be comfortable and relaxed. We only stayed for a short time, but the 20 minute walk to the village allowed us time in the area. A nice place to stay while on holiday.

We loved our long weekend break at The Quart. Perfect quiet location within 10 min walk of the Main Street. It had everything we needed including great WiFi and very comfortable beds ! Sarah gave us excellent directions. We hope to return again

My wife and I came to Chipping Campden for 3 nights for our mini-moon and couldn’t have picked a more wonderful, beautiful place to stay. As we arrived after it got dark on our first night, it was quite difficult trying to locate exactly which cottage it was on the road (a small sign for ‘Honeysuckle Cottage’ somewhere would’ve been handy!), but we got there eventually. The cottage is small and quaint. It was absolutely spotless, and had everything you could’ve needed for a short break away – down to spare batteries for the remotes! We really loved out stay here, particularly making use of the log burner on a chilly, wet and windy evening. The pub practically next door, the Blockley Cafe down the road, and the location in terms of exploring the rest of the Cotswolds was brilliant. As previous reviews had suggested, we left our bags in the downstairs area and didn’t attempt to negotiate the stairs, but that was absolutely fine. If you’re a little on the taller side (unlike us!), you will certainly have to be mindful of the ceilings up by the bedroom, but this all adds to the character and the charm of a true, old Cotswolds cottage. The communication before arrival from Character Cottages was second to none. Really detailed information with regard to the cottage itself, arrival/key information, and plenty to do around the surrounding area. We already can’t wait to come back! Highly, highly recommend!

Wow where to start! We wanted a quite little cottage in a quaint little village to spend our 10th wedding anniversary at and my god honeysuckle cottage didn’t disappoint!

Beautiful cottage, wonderful location. Excellent information pack on everything around!

Could not fault a single thing!

Oh maybe the weather 😂

Thank you

Wonderful! Really nice. Great village.

This forms the second part of our review (as we booked 2 back to back stays).

If I could leave six stars I would. Highly recommended.

The cottage was lovely, very clean, and all necessary facilities. The village of Blockley is extremely nice, and has a great cafe, as well as being close to other nice villages such as Moreton in Marsh.

A charming, cute and very quiet cottage in a really picturesque village, well away from the madding crowds. We used it as a base to get around the Cotswolds by public transport and it worked beautifully. The cottage was spotless with everything you would need for a 5 day stay (though I would mention that salt, pepper and cooking oil were missing). A very well appointed space! The stairs are seriously tiny and seriously steep, so if you’re not fully mobile or spritely, they will be tricky! Same goes for anyone over about 5’9” in the bedroom, there’s quite a bit of head-dodging of ancient beams involved! Overall, a very lovely, very sweet, very enjoyable spot in a beautiful place.

Very nice cottage in a very good location. You can go everywhere around Cotswolds very easy.

Beautiful setting! Very peaceful, comfortable and clean cottage! Such a delight to experience the Cotswolds in this way.

This is a very small house. A “tiny house”. The downstairs is reasonably comfortable. There is a two person sofa and a small easy chair in the sitting area along with a TV and a fireplace. Also a small dinning table and two chairs. There is a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. Kitchen utensils and tableware are adequate. But beware of the stairs! They are narrow, steep, uneven and winding. They lead to the upstairs bedroom and bath. Because the stairs are so difficult to navigate we left our suitcases downstairs. The bedroom has a comfortable queen sized bed but has limited headroom. We bumped our heads several times. The bathroom is adequate with a large bath tub and hand held shower. We would not stay in this house again because of the small size and the extremely difficult stairs.

A fantastic cottage, perfectly placed for all aspects of a holiday in the Cotswolds. The cottage is small but has everything you need to enjoy a break. Fantastic local shop and cafe along with the local pub a few steps away. We will definitely come back again when next visiting the Cotswolds.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It was super clean. The village it was located in was absolutely beautiful. The host had a binder of all the info you need about the house and the town. My favorite part of the stay was lighting the fire, so cozy.

The downside was it smelled musty and my allergies flared up immediately after stepping inside. They also only left one toilet roll for my 5 day stay which meant I had to go to the store and get toilet paper my 2nd day, no big deal though. Lastly, there are almost zero sound barriers, I could literally hear the neighbors turn on their sink and clear their throat.

Aside from those 3 things, it was great. The stay felt like living in a movie, definitely would book again if I come back.

A stunning little cottage, within a brilliant location. The fire was roaring, keeping us very warm and cosy. Within touching distance of a lovely little local pub. Thank you!

Gorgeous cottage tucked away in a quiet village setting. Very peaceful setting – perfect for a little getaway!

Amazing property for a weekend away – highly recommend for a true cotswold experience

Wonderful property. Great location. The village is so pretty. Cottage is clean, warm, lovely welcoming feel. Very clear instructions regarding arrival. The Crown pub just around the corner – highly recommended. The cafe in the village is very busy but offers a great variety of food. We look forward to returning to Honeysuckle Cottage.

Good location and close to lots of the main villages. Very clean cottage and easy to find with the instructions sent prior to arrival.

Honeysuckle Cottage was a perfect base for our time in the Cotswolds! Such a cute space with lots of thoughtful touches, and right in the middle of idyllic Blockley.

Absolutely beautiful cottage located just around the corner from the lovely local pub (The Crown). It was clean and extremely cosy- a perfect cottage escape! It is a fantastic location as it is situated very close to other main villages too, such as Chipping Campden and Bourton on the Water! We had a brilliant stay!

Amazing place all very well organised with everything you need. So cosy, just perfect.

Honeysuckle Cottage is an absolutely beautiful and cute cottage located in a very quite and picturesque village of Blockley. We stayed over for three nights but wish it was much longer. The place is perfectly proportioned for two people and had all amenities we required. Excellent location for exploring all that Cotswold has to offer! Character Cottages provided us with clear and comprehensive information all the way. Easy to find and access.

It was exactly as advertised. Cozy. Comfortable. Clean. Everything was very thoughtful. Perfect.

The perfect cottage to enjoy all the Cotswolds has to offer! Blockley is a beautiful village, and Honeysuckle Cottage was wonderful. We would definitely stay here again!

Absolutely brilliant stay, would definitely come back.

A beautiful little cottage in a charming village. Such a wonderful experience staying here! It felt very homey and cosy, was a great location for reaching other parts of the Cotswolds (plus some great local walks on the doorstep). Highly recommend.

Beautiful little cottage! Thoroughly enjoyed my stay

Really good stay. The perfect size for a couple with great amenities. Well located to access other surrounding villages too.

This is a wonderful cottage in the beautiful village of Blockley. Great position to visit everywhere around the Cotswolds. The cottage has everything you need and is really comfortable and cosy. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful, peaceful place to stay if you’re looking to relax in the Cotswolds

A stunning little cottage in a beautiful village. Sparkling clean and perfectly formed. A wonderful place to base yourself while exploring the Cotswolds.

Beautiful, romantic, cozy cottage in a spectacular location to act as a base to discover The Cotswolds. The amenities are excellent, everything is well appointed including the kitchen. The local village of Blockley is gorgeous and less 10 mins away from some great local spots. We also loved exploring the wider region. Could not recommend this place any more strongly – amazing

A well fitted out, quaint cottage in a good central area for exploring the Cotswolds.

The cottage was so lovely, very clean with lots of great amenities! The town was lovely and very well located for lots of brilliant walks and nice food! Character Cottages was so helpful, highly recommend this cottage, amazing for the money too!

Really lovely cottage in a beautiful village. The bedroom really is accessed by very steep winding stairs but they were no problem to us. Great pub really close. Blockley shop and cafe a must visit. Easy to park very close by in November but expect it’s busy in Summer. We loved our little getaway,

Really lovely stay – highly recommend to anyone wanting an escape!! Really cozy with the wood burner which I strongly suggest using. Really well equipped little kitchen. The bedroom was incredibly clean, nice and warm when we got back too!! The cafe down the road is amazing too. A must go to! A really wonderful stay for anyone looking for a couple of days away together. (Do try and find it before dusk – was fun playing hide and seek down pitch black alleys to get to it in the pouring rain haha! ) Definitely would go back again!

Lovely cottage, just right for two. Everything you need is in the cottage, also close to shop, cafe and pub.

Lovely cottage and excellent service!

Quiet, cute and quintessential Cotswold cottage!

Charming well equipped cottage. Very steep steps as advertised! In a lovely quiet location and ideal to explore the wider Cotswolds. Would be happy to return and recommend to others

Such a beautiful cottage that is equipped with absolutely everything you’d need for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend.

Had a lovely short break at this charming little cottage which is ideal for a couple looking for a romantic trip. Everything you’d need was provided and checking in / out couldn’t have been easier. It is rather compact but fine for a few days, however be warned the ceiling in the bedroom upstairs is low and you will be prone to bumping your head (as I unfortunately found out…) so taller people should be mindful. Otherwise the location was spot on, right by a lovely pub that served great food and next to lots of other quaint and famous Cotswold villages. Thanks to the owners for making our stay so brilliant!

A fabulous find. The cottage was perfect for a relaxed stay. We loved it from the moment we walked in. Perfectly clean, very well equipped with everything you could need and decorated really nicely. The village is really sweet, the cafe does amazing food, and the pub is less than a minutes walk away. A great base. The stairs were a little tricky for us, only because we brought our small dog and she’s not good at them normally let alone steep twisting ones. But it didn’t impact how great our stay was. Such an easy process from booking right through to checking out. And lots of great info given well ahead of time. Thank you, we will definitely be back.

Everything ran perfectly – lovely space, very relaxing and easy. Thank you!

Gorgeous cottage! Beautifully done and perfectly equipped. The village of Blockley is absolutely stunning and you’re perfectly situated for country walks, pubs, nice dinners – basically everything you could ask for in the Cotswolds! Be warned about the ceilings/door frames up stairs if you are tall, however – caused my husband quite an issue as he is nearly 6”4! We would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Beautiful cute cottage, spotlessy clean & great location!!

Such a lovely relaxing little spot, in a gorgeous village – and so close to everything else around you!

Amazing quiet location right next to the pub! Gorgeous little cottage.

Beautiful location, extremely clean. All in all it was wonderful!

I had to contact Character Cottages on an issue whilst staying at Honeysuckle Cottage (my fault, not theirs) and I found the support offered was wonderful! Really caring team that made me feel so much better and I was able to relax and continue to enjoy my lovely stay.

Honeysuckle Cottage is beautifully situated at the heart of the village. It is extremely clean and very well-presented. As noted on the details of the cottage, it is small, especially upstairs, so may be a little difficult for taller guests!

Amazing cottage, in a lovely town, I’d highly recommend walking to Batsford Abaretum while there!

A very cute & well equipped little cottage. The bed & towels were fabulous!! The stairs are extremely steep with a very narrow tread. They should not be attempted in socks…the stairs are definitely slippery. Overall, we really enjoyed this cottage & the quaint little village of Blockley. We truly appreciated the milk & cookies.

The cottage is the perfect size for two with all amenities you could need. Ideal for a short stay as a nice pub very close. I imagine parking may be difficult when the pub is busy but we had no problems! Be careful upstairs if you’re tall, but apart from a few hit heads the bedroom space is nice. Definitely recommend.

Fabulous cottage!

Honeysuckle Cottage is a very cute, small property in a lovely Cotswold village. The cottage is very well equipped and ideal for a couples’ break. As previously described, the stairs to the upstairs level are very steep and access upstairs would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. However, if that is not an issue, then Honeysuckle Cottage is perfect.

Thank you very much. Good and quite place!

Amazing and stunning! A lovely place. A true gem! Clean, tidy, and so well placed in the village! We shall return!

Excellent location to visit many quaint towns in Cotswold with beautiful walking paths to go to different towns.

Super cute, sparkling clean, everything you could ever need from a tiny place. Perfect to escape London!

Well decorated and maintained cottage in a beautiful village. It’s perfectly located to explore the rest of the Cotswolds either driving or taking the many footpaths that criss cross the area. The local village pub comes highly recommended.

Our Honeysuckle Cottage stay was fantastic. Blockley was the perfect place to base ourselves. We travelled without a car as there’s a bus through Blockley that connects with surrounding towns and the train. The cottage is well-appointed, super clean and just lovely. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Honeysuckle Cottage is a great spot. Located in the beautiful village of Blockley it was the perfect location from which to explore the Cotswolds. The cottage itself is charming and very well presented. I highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the Cotswolds.

Great clean and cosy cottage. The perfect getaway!

This is a beautiful cottage with lots of lovely touches. Spotlessly clean and everything you need for a comfortable stay. A lovely village to explore, and ideally placed for exploring the rest of the Cotswolds. A very pleasant few days and definitely hope to return.

Very clean and has a lovely pub 2 minutes away. Blockley is very quiet and peaceful so if you’re looking for complete escape then it’s great.

Loved the Honeysuckle cottage! A beautiful village but recommend you have a vehicle if you stay here as it’s a bit away from the main towns (I prefer not to be in the “touristy” towns personally). Clean cottage and check in was easy peasy.

We had a really fantastic stay at Honeysuckle Cottage! Great, warm space, very clean! And we were pleasantly surprised to find that there was a smart tv!

We had a lovely time at honeymoon cottage. It was clean with so much character, and the check in and out process was completely hassle-free. Thanks!

Superb cottage very near to lots of places in a quiet, idyllic village setting

Cosy property tucked away in Blockley with a shop and pub within a couple of minutes walking. A great base to visit places in the Cotswolds. I really appreciated clear arrival instructions. As well as thoughtful touches like coffee, tea and biscuits upon arrival. Very clean. The kitchen is well equipped to do simple cooking and the fireplace works well! Will definitely return next time in the Cotswolds.

Very well equipped property with very responsive communication.

Absolutely charming! Spent two weeks here and felt it was the perfect little space – the best of English charm with updated conveniences – for a wonderful stay exploring the Cotswolds.

Lovely warm and cosy cottage. Spotlessly clean, well equipped, wonderful comfortable bed. Fantastic pub only a two minute walk, with wonderful food and dog friendly. Would definitely stay again.

Small but beautifully formed cottage. Everything is provided and more. Blockley is a gorgeous hidden gem, so quiet yet has 2 pubs, cafe and an amazing village shop, also great for walking. A fabulous stay, we would highly recommend!

It is very small, we left our cases downstairs so that wasn’t a problem. A nice touch were the biscuits waiting for us. There really needs to be a blind on the bedroom window.

Absolutely loved staying here for the weekend!! It was beautiful in the winter! It’s so sweet and has everything you could need to hole up. Such beautiful walking around nearby but also well positioned as a jumping off spot for the rest of the Cotswolds. Highly recommend!

We would definitely recommend this little cottage to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing weekend! Beautifully presented and so cosy to sit in front of the log burner in the evening! Excellent location with lots of places to visit locally, such a charming area. Will definitely be returning and using character cottages again for future stays! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This cottage was exactly as advertised. Everything was exceptionally clean with all requirements (and more) thought of with some very nice, helpful touches. A great location right in the heart of the Cotswolds, and even though we visited around Christmas we managed several lovely walks and explored around the village, with its good village shop and lovely cafe – worth a visit! Honeysuckle Cottage is a very warm and cosy place to spend some time, which we thoroughly enjoyed and hope to return one day.

Small and perfectly formed. I love everything about this cottage! We went mid-winter so the log-burner made it incredibly warm & cozy. Easy & hassle-free check in. Perfect location…Blockley is stunning! Will definitely be back.

Everything is perfect. My second stay here.

Gorgeous property!

Super cottage in a lovely village. Ideal place to be based to explore the north Cotswolds. Property had a lovely wood burner, comfy bed and a great pub almost next door. Very quiet surroundings for a peaceful getaway.

Lovely stay here, we’d happily book here again. Very nice little cottage with everything you need. As warned by the host, it’s quite compact and ceiling heights are quite low, but that adds character! The stairs are also quite small so not for anyone without a fairly decent level of mobility. Located in a lovely sleepy village, and just a couple of minutes from The Crown, which provided excellent dinners. Just what we wanted for a short Cotswolds break.

Lovely clean property. Welcome note left along with nice treats. Easy to find. Perfect location.

Very clean and has everything you could need including little things like tin foil or kitchen roll. The steps up to the bedroom are quite steep and carpeted so mind out if just wearing socks. Very close to a pub and village shop open 7 days a week. Had a very cosy peaceful stay thank you.

Well stocked and comfortable little cottage. The ceilings upstairs are quite low, so there was a bit of head-bumping for my 6’0” partner. Overall great experience!

Lovely place! Nice and cosy, lots of little extras which was a nice touch. Perfect.

Fabulous cottage. In a lovely village setting, it’s tiny but absolutely beautiful. Log fire was super and upstairs the bedroom and bathroom have all mod cons but you have to watch out for the uneven floors and low ceilings! Wonderful.

We had a lovely stay at this cottage. The place has everything you need and the bed is so incredibly comfortable! Thanks for a great stay.

The cottage lived up to expectation . It was just perfect . Highly recommend to anyone .

Stunning cottage and excellent facilities. Loved the location

Wonderful weekend trip, gorgeous house and perfect location, thank you very much!

A gorgeous little cottage, exactly as pictured. Set in a quiet little side street next to the the pub and local shop.

Perfect little cottage and it was a great stay. The location was very quiet but a good base to go out exploring other villages from. There was a lovely pub and local cafe/shop nearby and beautiful walks straight from the front door. We would definitely stay again!

Good clear instructions. Cottage was small but immaculate. Bed super comfortable and lovely sheets . Lots of extras – milk , sugar etc and super cookies. All appliances you could want and clear instructions . Wood and kindling for the lovely log burner left out . Would definitely use this cottage again. A super base to discover the Cotswolds .

Great little cottage. Would highly recommend. Lovely village with some great walks.

Everything is wonderful in honeysuckle cottage. Highly recommended!

Honeysuckle Cottage really is a superb place for a couple to base themselves in the Cotswolds, it is beautifully presented throughout to a very high standard, it manages to keep lots of character whilst retaining lots of comfort. It really is fully equipped from its kitchen down to little touches throughout. We didn’t bring a dog on this stay but we thought that although it was dog friendly there isn’t a dedicated space out doors for dogs that is completely secure however that is only a minor detail. The stairs to the upstairs have been well documented as being steep however both of us suffer with MS and didn’t find them a problem although the top floor did feel a little like the funhouse because of the slopping floors but you get used to it quite quickly, again a minor detail. Over all it really is a wonderful, character filled base for anyone wanting to have a bit of time in the Cotswolds, with lovely walks and villages close to hand and some quite amazing eateries around too. All things considered, you couldn’t really ask for anything more!

Clean well equipped cosy cottage. Great location highly recommend.

Excellent cosy cottage in a wonderful village

Excellent small but perfectly formed cottage. Spotlessly clean with everything provided. Very close to the pub.

Lovely warm ,cosy and immaculately clean cottage, beautiful little village very quiet and peaceful. Good parking facility, handy for touring around local area.

What a wonderful home away from home. We stayed for four nights when attending a family wedding in the area. The cottage is ideally placed for exploring with beautiful countryside walks on the doorstep. A cosy pub just round the corner and the very lovely village cafe / shop down the hill. The cottage is small with steep uneven stairs to the bedroom as described but so lovely. Exceptionally clean and provided with absolutely everything we could need. Lots of lovely touches on our arrival with milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, lovely biscuits and chocs, firewood all set out for the wonderful log burner stove. The upstairs sloping floor and lower ceilings are definitely characterful. Exceptionally comfortable, large kingsize bed with super crisp, quality linen and soft fluffy towels in the well equipped, large bathroom space. Lots of hot water and lovely toiletries. All in all we loved Honeysuckle Cottage and hope to return one day.

A truly wonderful and well equipped cottage . Small but perfectly formed, it has everything for a perfect break. A brilliant pub around the corner and a community cafe just down the road . Blockley is a great base from which to explore the Cotswolds .

Everything was wonderful! So cute, clean and comfortable. Beautiful quiet little village but also a great hub to explore the surrounding Cotswolds from. Cannot wait to come back!

The cottage was lovely and cozy. It was very well equipped with everything needed. Parking next to the cottage very easy. Highly recommended!!

Superb quality property, perfect for couples visiting beautiful blockley. Great food in both pubs within 5 min walk and a brilliant local cafe 2 mins away open daily 9-5. Spotless place and super fast communication from Character Cottages made life easy. A fantastic weekend had, thank you.

Everything was excellent – small and beautiful.

Such an amazing little cottage!! The stairs are seriously steep but overall the cottage is so homely and lovely! We had an incredible stay! The village is beautiful, only a stone throw to a lovely pub and extremely dog friendly! Will definitely be booking again in the future.

Great cottage and very well presented with nice added touches, close enough to places to visit and nice and cosy on an evening. Great pub around corner with good food

A wonderful stay at Honeysuckle cottage! A beautiful and compact space ideal for couples in the heart of Blockley. Incredibly clean and had absolutely everything we could need, as well as a few extra little treats left for us by the host. A 1 min walk to The Crown which had really wonderful food and drinks and a lovely log fire. Highly recommend!

Really lovely small space – very well designed so does not feel cluttered. Bed is incredibly comfortable! Lots of little thoughtful touches from host – very quick replies and felt well looked after! It’s right on the doorstep of 2 nice pubs and 15 mins to Bourton on Water. We would happily come back here!

Beautifully clean and well equipped cottage with everything you could need for a wonderful little trip to the Cotswolds. The wood burning stove was a real hit too. Definitely a small cottage so perhaps not for those expecting acres of space or very tall people, but very cozy and comfortable, thank you for a wonderful stay.

Incredible location in the most picturesque part of the English countryside. The cottage was perfect for us as a couple looking for a short break to enjoy the autumn weather away from busy city-living. Will happily recommend to any looking to do the same!

Extremely charming, comfortable and well appointed cottage in a beautiful part of the Cotswolds. The small village environment was just perfect as was the local pub and the cafe / deli just down the road. Perfect setup for a couple on vacation.

Extremely clean, modern lovely property in a fantastic village setting. Excellent property management. Strongly recommended for couples without mobility issues.

A delightful cottage which lived up to the high standards of Character Cottages and previous guests, who had provided reviews. Highly recommended to couples seeking a base to explore from, or a sanctuary to retreat into.

Excellent location and cottage was great, well equipped and beautifully decorated. It’s small but perfectly formed. A wonderful stay.

Excellent little bolthole to escape and relax. Spotlessly clean. Close to so many lovely villages, well recommended

We found Honeysuckle Cottage to be clean, very well equipped with everything we required and nicely presented. Communication was excellent and overall we really enjoyed our brief stay at Honeysuckle Cottage.

A gorgeous small little property that has everything! In a very quiet location that you can easily walk to the pub. Very clean, great bed. Lovely thoughtful welcome pack. A great base to visit surrounding areas!

This was an incredible cottage. Very cute, well equipped, clean and ideally located in the Cotswolds. We had a great stay, very easy check-in process and it felt just like home. The bed is large and comfortable, great shower with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Very charming! Loved the fireplace too. We highly recommend!

We couldn’t recommend this cottage more. It’s absolutely beautifully decorated inside, with so many thoughtful touches making us feel so welcome as soon as we arrived. It’s small, as they’ve said, but the space is used amazingly well to feel cosy without being over cluttered. For 2 people it was all we needed. Blockley was also a lovely, small village from which it was so easy to explore other parts of the Cotswolds and we’d definitely recommend the pub down the road, and breakfast from the village shop too. Would absolutely stay again.

Beautiful place to stay. Very clean and warm, we stayed over Halloween and had to deal with quite a bit of bad weather but we’re so cosy in Honeysuckle cottage.

Great cottage and very well presented with nice added touches, close enough to places to visit and nice and cosy on an evening. Great pub around corner with good food.

Honeysuckle cottage is a gorgeous place to stay! It has been incredibly well thought out and furnished perfectly. Blockley is a beautiful place to be situated, the local shop cafe and pub provide wonderful food/coffee. This place is brilliant for a quick getaway in the Cotswolds. We have stayed at honeysuckle cottage 3 times now and it is always immaculate! We absolutely love staying here!

A perfectly wonderful stay. Beautiful little cottage that we will most definitely be visiting again soon. Everything was so well thought of and put together so well. Thank you.

Very nice cottage in a very good location. You can go everywhere around Cotswolds very easy.

Excellent location and cottage was great, well equipped and beautifully decorated. It’s small but perfectly formed. A wonderful stay.

Great stay at a very well kept cottage. Small and compact downstairs but everything you need. The bed upstairs however was huge and super comfortable! Blockely is extremely quiet so a car is definitely needed to explore the area. Some great local spots around if you’re willing to travel 10-20mins out of the village. Overall very enjoyable!

Such a cute cottage, it was extremely clean and tidy. Such a lovely place, highly recommended!

Superb. Will be back!
