WHEN GOD ALLOWS THE LION, HE IS REVEALING THE STRENGTH WITHIN YOU

WHEN GOD ALLOWS THE LION, HE IS REVEALING THE STRENGTH WITHIN YOU

“Then the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon him, and he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat.” — Judges 14:6

There are moments in life when God will allow a lion to cross your path. Not because He has abandoned you, but because He is preparing to reveal something greater within you. Samson was not looking for a battle that day. He was simply walking in the direction God had allowed. Yet suddenly, a roaring lion appeared. The obstacle was unexpected, intimidating, and dangerous. What Samson did not know was that the lion was not sent to destroy him—it was an opportunity for God to demonstrate the strength He had already placed inside him.

Many people spend their lives praying for easier roads, while God is working to build stronger believers. We often ask God to remove every challenge, but some battles are not meant to be removed; they are meant to be conquered. The lion you face today may look impossible, but what stands before you is never greater than the God who stands within you.

The greatest enemies of faith are often fear and doubt. Before any lion can defeat a person physically, it attempts to defeat them mentally. Fear magnifies the problem and minimizes God’s power. Yet Scripture repeatedly reminds us that God has not called His children to live in fear. The roar may be loud, but the promises of God are louder.

Samson discovered that the power of God was not merely around him—it was upon him. The same principle remains true for believers today. God’s strength is often revealed most clearly in moments of pressure. You may not realize how much grace you carry until life demands that you use it. You may not recognize how strong your faith has become until it is tested by adversity.

The lion represents more than a physical threat. It symbolizes every challenge that rises against God’s purpose for your life—every setback, every disappointment, every attack on your faith, every season that seems determined to stop your progress. Yet every lion carries a lesson. Every battle carries an opportunity for growth. Every challenge is an invitation to trust God more deeply.

The apostle Paul understood this truth when he wrote, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). Notice that Paul did not say he could do all things because circumstances were favorable. He declared victory because Christ was his source of strength. The believer’s confidence is not rooted in personal ability but in divine empowerment.

Too many people focus on the size of the lion instead of the size of their God. David refused to measure Goliath by human standards because he knew that God’s power could never be measured by earthly limitations. Faith shifts our attention from the obstacle to the One who reigns above every obstacle.

Sometimes God permits a battle because there is a testimony hidden inside it. If Samson had never faced the lion, there would have been no story of victory. If David had never faced Goliath, there would have been no testimony for generations to remember. Your current struggle may be the very chapter that inspires someone else to trust God tomorrow.

The remarkable truth about God’s work is that He often transforms places of conflict into places of blessing. The very thing that was meant to intimidate you can become evidence of God’s faithfulness. The enemy may send a roar, but God always has the final word. What appears to be a threat today can become a testimony tomorrow.

God never promised that His children would live without opposition. In fact, resistance often confirms that purpose is present. Every person chosen by God faced moments of adversity. Yet the common thread throughout Scripture is not the absence of battles but the presence of God in the middle of them.

The Lord speaks this same assurance through His Word: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). This promise reminds us that victory is never achieved alone. God Himself walks beside those who trust Him.

Perhaps your lion today is uncertainty about the future. Perhaps it is a financial burden, a family struggle, a health challenge, or a spiritual battle. Whatever form it takes, remember that the God who carried His people through every generation has not changed. His power has not diminished. His promises have not failed.

The enemy wants you to focus on the roar. God wants you to focus on His presence. The enemy wants you to see weakness. God wants you to discover strength. The enemy wants you to retreat. God is calling you to stand firm and trust Him completely.

When the story of your life is written, may it not be remembered for the lions that stood against you, but for the faith that stood within you. The battle may be fierce, but God’s power is greater. The challenge may be real, but His promises are more real. Stand strong, trust His Word, and remember: every lion you face is another opportunity for God to reveal His glory through your life.
